Wiston Church
DRG

The parish church of St Mary the Virgin at Wiston is a lovely old medieval building. It stands almost opposite the ruined medieval castle of Wiston, established in the 12th century by a man named Wizo, who gave his name to the village. In the churchyard is a memorial to those who died in the Civil War battle of Colby, many of whom are buried here. The memorial was erected in 2003 by the Sealed Knot Society, the most popular Civil War re-enactment group.
